Vase PHIENE glass dark green / light grey L

The PHIENE vase is a dark green glass vase with the generous, balloon-like silhouette of an old apothecary jar: a wide rounded belly that pulls in sharply at the shoulder and rises into a short, straight neck with a plain cut rim. In the large L size it reads as a sculptural object even before a single stem goes in.

The glass is smoky and translucent rather than clear, shifting from deep bottle green in the thicker base to a pale, almost light grey haze where the light passes through the curve. Highlights slide along the shoulder and the rounded base, and the soft concentric ripples in the bottom show the hand-formed character of the body. Fill it with tall branches, pampas or eucalyptus, or leave it empty on a sideboard, a low console or beside a fireplace, where its dense colour holds its own against oak, linen and stone. It sits comfortably in japandi, wabi-sabi and modern rustic interiors, and looks especially good grouped with smaller vases in mixed heights.
